Welcome Home!

When it's all said and done, I'll stand before the Living God and He'll ask me, "Did we know each other?" When that's asked of me, I want there to be a glean in His eye, and a widening grin come across his face before we both burst out laughing, He runs to me and knocks me down with a tackle-hug, looks me square into my eyes with that soul-piercing, all-knowing, all-loving intensity of His, and says (barely, before He starts laughing again so hard He can hardly get it out), "Welcome Home, my dear friend. Welcome Home! Come, enter into the joy of the Kingdom with us."

And then life, real and full, will begin...

Dangerous Wonder by Mike Yaconelli - The late self-proclaimed lay-pastor Mike Yaconelli tells his journey of recapturing the joy of being a child in his relationship with God. This book helped to ignite in me an innocent hunger for the thrill of knowing God.
The Silence of Adam by Dr. Larry Crabb, Don Michael Hudson, and Al Andrews - An eye-opening discussion on the silence (the acquiescence) of man since the Fall and how Christ has come to draw us out from that silence.
Soul Salsa by Leonard Sweet - This is Leonard's proclaimation on spiritual living in the postmodern world.
Hearing God--Developing a Conversational Relationship with God by Dallas Willard - One of the best books on learning to hear God (which is, by the way, one of the most crucial and life-giving disciplines of all of the Christian walk).
Healing the Masculine Soul by Gordon Dalbey - A discussion of the wound in men's souls since the Fall and what it means to receive healing and freedom when men get real with themselves, with God, and with other men.

The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning - Nobody speaks about grace, that "active expression of God's love" as Manning does.
An Arrow Pointing to Heaven by James Bryan Smith - The biography of one of my mentors, Rich Mullins.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis - His allegory stories to Kingdom life, these books are very helpful for every aspect of our lifes with God. Really, find and read anything by Lewis.
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra - A brilliant metaphor for Christ's fierce love for us... could Cervantes have known?
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - a metaphor for our life together as a Body.
The Sacred Romance by John Eldredge & Brent Curtis - Such a helpful book on understanding the Story of the Gospel and beginning to take our place in it with the Creator and Pursuer.
The Divine Conspiracy byDallas Willard - A thick but well-balanced book describing "The Kingdom Among Us" and how we are to live in it.
The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer - Start with this book, and return to it often. Tozer describes God's passionate pursuit of our hearts.
What's So Amazing About Grace? by Philip Yancey - Yancey's stories in here are deeply compelling and serve as kind of parables to understand the heart of Christ.
